I just joined Elance to see if I can get some freelance jobs to earn money.  Has anyone tried or know someone who has tried using Elance?  I just want to know as much as I can about it and get as much advice as I possibly can that will help me obtain jobs through them.  Thanks!!   :-)

I will, Linda.  It was recommended by an old high school friend so I decided to give it a whirl.  :-)

@ Virginia, :):):) I had the chance last night to check the site out. It seems quite interesting. But I think I will just stay with AuthorStand. I already belong to acouple of others but never do much if anything on them. I just sit back and "WAIT" to hear from them. Lol! :)

Until I start getting any kind of work through Elance, I'm going to stick with Author Stand..   And even when I do get work, I will still stick with Author Stand..  :-)   This is my fun place... lol

@ Virginia, :):):) This site is down right now for maintenance but I was reading these threads. I have not been able to get on since early last night. I just got my flash player updated so I am back, and wanted you to know. :) We woke up to rain this morning but now we have sunshine.:) I am working on Part III to another story that is posted here. She is so Talented!!! I have been reading some of her stories. They are VERY VERY GOOD!!! :) I think you will enjoy her work. She has more than just the two now. :)

I just read Brianna's story "Road to Nowhere" and I really enjoyed it.  @Brianna.. If you read this thread, you did a wonderful job on that story and your review should be up soon.   :-)

At some point, I was signing up for stuff which I never really got to. I've heard of Elance. Are you having any luck?

We REALLY need to figure out real and functional ways to make a living at this, don't you think? The plumber is getting paid. Surely there's a paying market for OUR kind of plumbing. Anyone?

Maybe we can start putting our heads together on some of this stuff.

Like, I don't see a point to 'monetizing' my youtube account cos I KNOW I want to sing covers. So you know, you do covers on a monetized account, someone may get annoyed. It's suppose to be YOUR original content.

But, for example, in terms of starting a conversation on this (and I realize on one level, this isn't about books though it could be, say READ your story on a youtube vid) you could USE your youtube account to get a fanbase and not WORRY about making any youtube revenue (revenue by ad money, I think) because you could ask your FANbase to pay you for the vids you create. Or whatever.

Thoughts, anyone?

As for making money with your writing craft, I think it is possible, but hard.  But as I learn from seeing my dad who is a great Chinese poet it is better to find a side job in the meantime.  

Thus, I will hold on to my Gardener title for now, and other titles that come along.

I find writers can hold any position and job titles.  I have done it.

Since I've joined Elance, I've just been taking my time and looking around the site and setting up my profile.  I haven't made any bids yet.  I'm going to just explore for now.  :-)
